All pets need their daily exercises including your dogs. So when it too cold or too hot to go outdoors for exercising you can work out the mind and body of your dog even indoors.

You can use stairs in the house to exercise your dog. This exercise can be made more playful and helpful while effective in engaging various muscles of your dog by using a dog toy. You need to up the stairs with the dog and then throw down his toy so that he runs to fetch. Once he grabs the toy command him to come back to you.

Another way to exercise him indoors is by using a laser pointer. You can use the pointer by shining it at different spots on the floor while he runs after it. Take care that you do not shine the laser straight into the dog's eyes as it can damage the dogs' retina. Next way of exercising your dog is by setting up obstacle courses in the house like a hula-hoop to jump through or cushions and furniture to make a tunnel for him to pass through. Chart out a pathway for your dog to go through dodging obstacles. Such a game can provide both mental and physical exercise to your dog.

Always see to it that your dog makes efforts for getting a treat. Treat can be used purposely to train your dog to obey you and to do as commanded treats work as a positive reinforcement in training a dog as believed by Pawz For Health. However, for indoor exercising you need to hide the treats in many places so that the dog gets busy trying to track his treats. There are also some treat dispensing toys that can help keeping your dog busy as he tackles with the toy to get a treat. You can also engage your dog in the old game of fetching and keeping away. Such a game is helpful in releasing your dogs' pent up energy.

Take your dog out for a social outing. You can take him along in your car, but remember to use the seat belt to restrain him, to a friends' house who also has a pet dog or perhaps to a nearby pet store to try or buy some new toys and allow him to sniff around while you have a lease to restrain him. A dog treadmill is very good and effective for indoor exercising. You can train him in using the treadmill by the method of using treats as rewards. You should start with the lowest speed possible after he is comfortable with it.

One of the typical dog games is Tug and fetch that does not need a big space and can be played even in hallways. Hide and seek is good both for the dogs' mind and body and help boosting his recalling abilities. Another game that can be played in the house is the nose work. Ensure that nose work activities and events maintain a good standard of superior training safety and practices (Pawz For Health) by utilizing motivational and sympathetic method with fun and the well-being being the main concern.
